At the heart of Redemption Bible Church is the message of the Gospel, and at the heart of the Gospel is Jesus Christ.
Some see Jesus as a good teacher, an ancient sage, or a prophet of God. He was all of those things…but He was so much more.
Jesus himself said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Jesus doesn’t identify himself as simply a good teacher who shows people the way. He isn’t claiming to be merely a sage who leads people to the truth. He doesn’t see himself as just one more prophet declaring God’s plan for life.
He didn’t come merely to point people to the Father; He came to provide the way, the only way, to him.
Jesus made some other pretty bold statements about himself.
He claimed the authority to forgive sin. He claimed that He would be the appointed judge of the living and the dead and that through his death and subsequent resurrection He would become the Savior of the world.
And if those claims weren’t overwhelming enough, He also identified himself as the pre-existent Son of God who dwelt eternally in a glorious relationship and unique one-ness with God the Father.
As philosopher C. S. Lewis famously explained, “Jesus is either the true Son of God, a demon, or else a madman.” Anyone listening to his claims either has to conclude He is a liar, a lunatic…or Lord.
At Redemption Bible Church, we take Jesus at his word. We believe that He is the eternal Son of God who took on our humanity, lived a sinless life, died an atoning death, and rose again on the third day in order to redeem us from our brokenness and lostness. Through him we can return to the relationship with God that we were created to enjoy.
And because Jesus is our Redeemer, He has become our joy, our hope, and our treasure. He is the one we desire to see, savor, and share.
Jesus Christ is the reason for the existence of Redemption Bible Church.
